After working in the hair extension industry for the past 13 years I Have found a huuuuge problem.... hair extension education!
Ladies some many of you are spending so much money on cheap hair extension offers, yet the hair does not last and you end up spending so much more money in the long run.
It is so important to know where the hair is from, the different types and qualities of hair. I often see really cheap offers for hair extensions. Enticing people to come and get the hair done for ridiculously low prices, Generally advertised by inexperienced technicians using poor quality hair, with a lack of knowledge that is truly needed to really help their clients.
Which is why you should be in the industry in the first place because you care and you want to make a difference. Not a quick buck
Here is an example below of dodgy offers I regularly see on social media:
Cheap tape hair Advertising for $350-$500 for a full head of hair extensions , which is madness! Advertised to be Russian/European Remy hair, which by the way cost thousands of dollars alone just for the hair. The Hair extension industry is not regulated so by law they are allowed to advertise it as European or Russian Even though it's likely a mixture of cheap human hair and synthetic hair - EEK - I KNOW!
I doubt it is even Remy hair, which means the cuticles are aligned & so the hair will last! They likely spent $90-$100 on the hair (max!) Also, tape is a very old way of doing hair extensions. They are quite visible, they don't blend well unlike nano tip extensions. They DAMAGE THE HAIR & don't last very long and there are many more favorable methods.
The results initially will look and feel great, (for a picture) but after a few weeks, yes only a few weeks😝 It will look ratty and knotty. ( yes, you guessed it!. Due to the POOR quality of the hair)
Dig a little deeper and you will likely find that the roots on the hair extensions don't match the client's natural hair😣 so many people use bright yellow extensions for blonde hair with bright yellow Rings to match with really visible tape.🤮
So think about it...if it's going to cost you $350 and will only last a few weeks. And you were to do that for a whole year you would be looking at Over $4500! For one year, For cheap tacky hair extensions that need re-doing every month.😆😣🙊 or spend the same amount on a superior method and superior hair and love it!
My advice: Don't buy cheap hair!
If you buy good quality hair You only need to buy one set of extensions for the whole year! Not one a month 😆 and if they're dark they will last even longer!
So, why am I sharing this post? Because I want to educate women so that they know what they are paying for, And so they don't waste their time and money on cheap extensions just because it looks shiny and appealing does not mean that it's a good deal.
If you invest in good quality hair and reuse that hair, then you would be saving money And you would look and feel better, plus it would look a lot lot lot more natural!
If ever you see hair extensions being advertised for less than $1000 for a full head, then you are likely paying for cheap hair extensions that won't last.
The technician needs to be experienced in order to apply them properly, if they are applied incorrectly they will damage your natural hair, so you'll have nothing left to apply extensions to😢
Fyi - an experienced technician will charge a premium rate and use premium hair! If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And finally don't put glue in your hair, glue or tape or anything to do with heat. It will kill your hair in the long run.😭
Good luck on your hair extension journey.😘😎🤗
